Sasashima Live In Nagoya
About the Sasashima Live Camera
Sasashima Live is one of the clearest examples of Nagoya rebuilding itself. The site was a JR freight yard until the 1980s, sat largely empty for two decades, and has since been redeveloped into the Sasashima Live 24 district about a kilometre south-west of Nagoya Station.
What fills it now is a mix that keeps the area busy at different hours: the Aichi University Nagoya Campus, the Global Gate office and retail complex that opened in 2017, Zepp Nagoya for concerts, and a cinema. The Aonami Line's Sasashima-raibu Station sits in the middle of it, one stop from Nagoya Station.
The result is a frame with an unusual rhythm for a city centre. Students dominate on weekday mornings, office workers at lunch, and concert crowds arrive in a single dense wave in the evening before dispersing just as quickly.
