Sapporo Chuo-ku Live Camera (STV)
About the Sapporo Chuo-ku Live Camera (STV) Camera
This STV camera covers Chuo-ku, Sapporo's central ward, home to Odori Park, the Susukino entertainment district and most of downtown's shopping streets. It's the ward most visitors to Sapporo spend their time in.
The feed is used to track weather and street conditions in the city center, including snowfall in winter, when downtown streets and sidewalks can change quickly.
Sapporo takes around five metres of snow in a season, which makes it comfortably the snowiest city of its size anywhere in the world, and the machinery of clearing it is a permanent feature of the winter streets in view here. In early February the Snow Festival fills Odori Park with large carved sculptures and pulls the heaviest visitor numbers of the year into these blocks.
