Nagoya Airport In Komaki

Nagoya LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Nagoya Airport Camera

Prefectural Nagoya Airport, still widely called Komaki Airport, was the region's main gateway until Chubu Centrair opened out in Ise Bay in February 2005 and took over the international and most domestic traffic. What remained turned out to be an unusually interesting airport.

Today it is the home base of Fuji Dream Airlines, whose fleet of brightly coloured Embraer jets flies domestic routes from here, alongside a steady stream of business aviation. It shares the runway with the JASDF's Komaki Air Base and sits next to a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries plant, so military transports and factory-fresh aircraft appear in the frame too.

That mix makes it a rewarding camera for spotters. The Aichi Museum of Flight, which opened on the site in 2017, sits alongside the field and displays the YS-11 among its aircraft.
