Ezo Squirrel and Red Fox Camera

This is a nature stream from a garden setting in Hokkaido where Ezo squirrels (a Hokkaido subspecies of the Eurasian red squirrel) and red foxes regularly come to feed. Unlike the site's street and landmark cameras, this one is about wildlife rather than a place.

Activity depends on the animals' own schedule rather than the time of day for visitors, so the frame is sometimes empty and sometimes has a squirrel or fox passing through or feeding.

Ezo squirrels do not hibernate, so they appear year-round and are usually busiest in the hours just after dawn. The foxes are worth watching with some distance in mind: red foxes in Hokkaido are the main carrier of Echinococcus multilocularis, a parasite that can infect people, which is why local guidance is consistently not to touch or feed them. Watching through a camera is the safe version of this.
