About the Nakajima Koen Station Area Camera
This camera covers the streets around Nakajima Koen Station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway's Namboku Line, just south of downtown. The station takes its name from Nakajima Park, a large green space with a pond, concert hall and traditional garden.
It's a quieter, more residential stretch of central Sapporo than Odori or Susukino, useful for checking street and weather conditions just outside the main downtown core.
The park the station is named for holds Hoheikan, a Western-style building put up in 1880 as lodging for the Meiji Emperor's visits to Hokkaido, moved here in 1958 and now designated an Important Cultural Property. Its pale blue and white frontage against the pond is the one thing in this otherwise ordinary residential district that people specifically come to see.
