Fukuoka Airport Live Camera

Fukuoka, Japan LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Fukuoka Airport Camera

This camera watches Fukuoka Airport, the main gateway to Kyushu, in Hakata ward. Its defining feature is how close it sits to the city: the subway reaches Hakata Station in two stops and about five minutes, which is almost unheard of for a major airport.

That proximity comes at a cost. The airport is surrounded by built-up city on every side, so it operates under a night curfew and there is effectively no room to expand outward. Traffic is dense within the operating hours as a result, and the turnaround pressure is visible on the apron.

The mix is heavily domestic with a substantial short-haul international component to Korea, China and Taiwan — Fukuoka is closer to Seoul than it is to Tokyo, and the route network reflects that geography more than it reflects Japanese domestic patterns.

Highlights & Nearby

  • Watch for: takeoffs and landings, apron turnaround, the city visible immediately beyond the perimeter
  • Nearby: Hakata Station (two subway stops), Fukuoka city centre, Dazaifu
  • Note: a night curfew applies, so movements stop overnight
